Japan recently landed a spacecraft called SLIM (Smart Lander for Investigating Moon) on the lunar surface, becoming the 5th country after the Soviet Union, the US, China and India to achieve a soft landing on the moon. Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM)

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) recently announced that its SLIM lander successfully went into lunar orbit. This is the 1st Moon-landing attempt being made by Japan and the 5th country to successfully soft land on the moon. SLIM would be the smallest and lightest spacecraft to land on the Moon. The chosen landing site for SLIM is near a small crater named Shioli in the equatorial region of the Moon.

Gaganyaan Mission ISRO was targeting December 2021 to launch the unmanned test mission of the Gaganyaan project (earlier scheduled for December 2020). ISRO’s Gaganyaan is India's first manned space mission. It envisages sending three Indians to space by 2022. Four pilots have been selected for the mission and they are undergoing training in Russia.
