Inland Vessels Bill 2021 passed in Lok Sabha

Inland Vessels Bill, 2021 It will replace the Inland Vessels Act, of 1917. The Bill will regulate the safety, security and registration of inland vessels. A key feature of the Bill is a unified law for the entire country, instead of separate rules framed by the States. Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) IWAI signed a project agreement with the world bank for the Jal Marg Vikas on Ganga (NW1). Jal Marg Vikas Project – Inland waterways

Jal Marg Vikas Project – Inland waterways JMVP was announced by the union government to enable commercial navigation of at least 1500 tonne vessels on the Ganga River. The project envisages the development of a waterway between Allahabad and Haldia (NW-1) on the Ganga River. It includes the development of fairways, multi-modal terminals, strengthening of open river navigation techniques, conservancy works, and modern river information system.
