Gujarat Public Service Commission

Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) releases an official notification for Gujarat Administrative & Civil Service Exam for the appointment in various departments of Gujarat Department. The candidates need to qualify Gujarat Civil Services Exam to secure a job in Class I and Class II Vacancies in the Gujarat Government.

We have prepared a comprehensive list of the GPSC Syllabus for both Prelims and Mains. It is important to know the GPSC Syllabus and all the topics covered under it. Besides GPSC Syllabus, one needs to know about the Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) Exam Pattern well. The medium of the examination shall be English and Gujarati. Gujarati and English Papers in Main Exam shall be in respective Language only.

GPSC Exam Pattern for Prelims

The preliminary GPSC Exam will consist of two paper of objective type (multiple choice questions). On the basis of marks obtained in this examination, candidates are declared qualified for Main Examination. Final selection list will be prepared only on the basis of marks obtained in Main Examination and Interview.This Examination is meant to serve as a screening test only and the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the Candidates, who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination, will not be counted for determining their final order of merit.

GPSC Exam Pattern for Mains

GPSC Mains Exam consist of a written examination. The Written examination will consist of six papers of conventional essay type questions. All papers are descriptive in nature. Each paper will be of three hours duration.For the Written Examination, there are basically six papers in GPSC Mains Exam i.e. Gujarati, English, Essay, General Studies Paper 1, General Studies Paper 2 & General Studies Paper 3. Total marks assigned to Written Examination is 900. Based on the marks obtained in the Mains Examination by the Candidates are declared qualified for admission to the Interview Test (100 Marks).

GPSC Exam Syllabus for Mains

This paper is designed to test candidates’

  1. Knowledge/awareness of a variety of Subjects and
  2. Their ability to compose a sustained piece of writing in the form of an essay. The candidates are required to attempt 3-5 Essays. (About 300 or 500 words each.)

Areas of Testing: This paper would test the following:

  1. Ability to compose a well-argued piece of writing
  2. Ability to express coherently and sequentially
  3. Awareness of the subject chosen

Evaluation / Marking: Credit will be given for the following:

  1. Observing established rules and format for essay writing
  2. The grammatical correctness of expression
  3. The originality of thought and expression
